Background

Context- In many urban areas, navigating the nightlife scene can be daunting for users looking to enjoy a night out without breaking the bank. With the abundance of bars and varying promotional offers, users often struggle to find reliable information on where to find the most appealing deals.

02

Research

Market analysis- Market analysis revealed a significant gap in the availability of apps dedicated to helping users find bar deals, with existing solutions lacking comprehensive features. Many current apps in this space provide limited functionality, such as basic listing of bars without detailed deal information or community engagement features.

Moreover, the bar and nightlife market is experiencing robust growth, with an increasing emphasis on attracting customers through promotional deals and offers. Recognizing this trend, "Bar Bounty" aims to capitalize on the demand for such services by offering a feature-rich platform where users can easily discover and compare bar deals, read reviews from fellow patrons, and interact within a community focused on nightlife experiences. By focusing on these aspects, the project not only addresses the existing market gap but also aligns with the evolving needs of both users and bar owners seeking to enhance customer engagement and satisfaction.

Surveys- To determine the most critical features for "Bar Bounty," I conducted user surveys focusing on the preferences and priorities of potential users. The survey sought to understand what aspects of a bar deals app were most important to them, such as ease of finding deals, community reviews, notifications for new deals, and integration with social media platforms.

03

Problem Statement

Many users struggle to efficiently discover and assess the best bar deals in their area, lacking a centralized platform that integrates real-time deal listings, community-driven reviews, and tools for bar owners to attract and engage customers effectively.

Wireframes- The wireframing process in developing "Bar Bounty" elevated the design exploration to a higher fidelity, offering a detailed view of optimal layouts and interactions. It enabled me to refine the initial sketches into more structured representations, clarifying the placement of UI elements, navigation flows, and content hierarchy. This iterative process not only solidified the app's visual structure but also facilitated collaborative feedback, ensuring that the final design effectively balanced aesthetics with functionality and met the project's UX goals.

User Flows- User flows played a pivotal role in envisioning and refining how users would interact with the app. By mapping out various scenarios and user journeys, I ensured redundancy in navigation paths, optimizing for ease of use and quick access to information. Each user flow was meticulously crafted to cater to different user intents, such as discovering nearby bars with deals, or reading reviews from the BarTalk community. This approach not only enhanced usability but also streamlined the overall user experience, making "Bar Bounty" intuitive and efficient for all its diverse users.

Early Sketches- Early sketches were invaluable in the development of "Bar Bounty" as they provided a preliminary exploration of layout possibilities for the app. These sketches allowed me to quickly iterate and visualize different design concepts, testing various arrangements of key elements such as deal listings, search functionalities, and community features like reviews and ratings. By sketching out multiple ideas, I was able to identify the most effective and intuitive layout that balanced aesthetic appeal with practical usability, laying a solid foundation for the app's subsequent wireframing and prototyping stages.
